This time, we get the robotic sphere Haro taking the limelight, with Sayla and Bright in support.
I don’t remember a lot about Haro from when I watched Mobile Suit Gundam. I knew he was around and I remember Amuro built him, but otherwise, he was just fluff. I guess that’s why him being the star here comes off as rather amusing.
Haro reminds me a lot of NB from the Tenchi Muyo! GXP series, complete with smoking, but sans the perversion.
It was also amusing to see Sayla keep hidden while observing Haro’s drama on the phone with his wife and kid while complaining about work.
Add to that, Bright’s and Sayla’s pity for Haro and the poor role he got to play.
This episode’s famous quote takes place after the infamous slap, where Bright asks, “What’s wrong with hitting you?” *lol* The rest of the quote goes, “You’re a selfish brat. We’ve been catering to your tantrums and it’s going to stop now.” Yeah, I remember well how bad Amuro was back then. ^_^;
So while I may not have laughed as much as I did in the previous episodes, this was still a humorous and enjoyable diversion. I’m really glad I decided to give this a gander.

In the recent manga “Gundam the Origin” Haro contrasts greatly. Always uttering little homilies like “Welcome home,” he is Amuro’s affectionate little AI — a toy-companion that Amuro bought as a youngster to his father’s disapproval. On one occasion his father impatiently kick’s Haro out of the way. It appears that the new manga “The Origin” changes plot elements to more plausible alternates from the decades-old story. I approve.
In this parody, “Gundam-san,” Haro’s metamorphosis naturally follows the code: anything goes, so well served up by the Marx Brothers in “A Night at the Opera.”
One incident apparently remaining the same is the famous and deserved slap by Lt. Bright up the side of Amuro’s face.
Haro said little things like that as well in the anime.
These infamous moments were taken from the original anime so…^_^
So far, after six volumes of “Gundam the Origin,” Haro hasn’t slipped out of the role of faithful slightly retarded, spherical friend.
Which is why this episode of Gundam-san is so funny as he does slip out of his role and into one with family problems.
I agree. Very funny stuff. Complete opposite from the “original” Haro.
